In the 1990s, the French companies Vitus and Mavic, both based in Saint-Étienne, did not have an official "collaboration" to produce a single co-branded bicycle model, but their products were frequently paired together. Vitus frames were commonly built up with Mavic components by professional cycling teams and individual enthusiasts….Used in Cycle shows in Milan Cologne Tour De France and local European races.
Vitus Frames and Mavic Components
Shared Origin: Both Vitus (originally a steel tubing manufacturer) and Mavic (manufacturer of components and wheels) were prominent figures in the French cycling industry, located in the same city. This shared heritage naturally led to their products being used in conjunction.
Technological Sync: The two brands were both pushing technological boundaries; Vitus with its lightweight, bonded frames and Exclusive Tubing. Mavic with innovations like its electronic shifting system (Mavic Zap) The "collaboration" was therefore more of a prevalent pairing of two leading French brands in a specific era of cycling history, rather than a formal, jointly marketed product line.
